STAMFORD — People everywhere are looking for solutions as challenging problems today demand a new way of addressing troubling issues. People are turning to prayer and finding answers. International speaker Lorenzo Rodriguez, who will be speaking in Stamford on April 3, states: “In my own life, I’ve found that effective, practical prayer brings peace and solutions to the worrisome problems presented by the world.”
Rodriguez is a practitioner of Christian Science healing; he will talk on “Spiritual Solutions for Desperate Situations" at the University of Connecticut Stamford campus. He will speak in English at 2 p.m. and Spanish at 3:30 p.m.
Rodriguez, a native of Cuba, earned his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Connecticut, Storrs, when his parents moved here from Mexico after leaving Cuba. While in school he was employed in the field of social work. Rodriguez still has family living in Connecticut.
The ideas he presents in the talk are based on the original sourcebook for Christian healing, the Bible, and the book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.
Rodriguez explains how God as infinite good brings trust in the power of good to overcome worry and fear. He gives examples of people from different walks of life who have demonstrated God's power to heal illness and resolve problems.
He says he felt since childhood a desire to help others, and so his career took him to the field of human resources where he worked as a recruiter and trainer and as a consultant to management. It was in this last capacity, working in Houston, that he became a pioneer in the field of employment for people with disabilities. He won several awards for this work.
Rodriguez discovered the healing system of Christian Science in early adulthood. As a scientific thinker he responded to the ideas stated in Science and Health. Rodriguez left his career in human resources and began a practice of healing through Christian Science. Later he became a member of The Christian Science Board of Lectureship based in Boston and travels widely to lecture. He was in Cuba in February for a lecture tour.
He lives and maintains his practice in Miami where he also teaches Christian Science He is fluent in English and Spanish.
