FAIRFIELD — Ken Brix is finally getting the chance to spread his church’s reach. Ken is executive director of Fairfield’s Black Rock Congregational Church. And with the Plan and Zoning Commission’s approval Tuesday night, he will get to carry out his plan to more than double the size of the 1,300-member church’s building.
“We’ve had severe overcrowding here for 10 or 15 years,” Ken says. Black Rock Congregational originally brought up plans to expand in 2003, planning to replace the 33,000-square-foot church with one that was more than 100,000 square feet in space. But after complaints from hundreds of area residents, Brix scaled back the plan.
