WEST HARTFORD — Jewish Family Services has approved 295 Basic Human Needs (BHN) grants totaling $70,000 to Hartford area families this year, but it needs your help.
BHN provides support to a breadwinner currently unemployed, to a child’s family to cover an unexpected out-of- pocket medical expense, or to a working individual forced to choose between paying for utilities, rent, or groceries.
If JFS raises $25,000 between now and June 30 for its BHN program, the Jewish Community Foundation will match it dollar for dollar, which means this fund grows to $50,000.
As an added incentive to help, Bloomfield Bicycle Shop has generously donated two exciting bikes. For each $50 increment you donate, you win a chance at an IZIP HYBRID ELECTRIC BIKE (up to 10 chances).
For example, a $150 donation gets you 3 chances at the electric bike.
If you give $5 increments, you win chances at a new mountain bike (up to 10 chances). A $25 donation gets you five chances at the mountain bike.
To help, call the JFS office, (860) 236-1927 ext. 57 to charge your donation to BHN and enter the bicycle drawing. Or send a check to Jewish Family Services, 333 Bloomfield Ave, Ste A, West Hartford, CT 06117. You will automatically be entered into the drawing based on the donation you send. Any questions, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
With your help, JFS can reach the BHN goal and meet this challenge. We can continue making a difference for families in crisis.
