SOUTH WINDSOR — Charles Holt, a soloist from Michael Beckwith’s Agape Church in Santa Monica, will sing at Unity Church of Greater Hartford later this month.
Music and storytelling have always been a vital part of Holt’s life.
It wasn’t until a friend, however, saw his potential as a performing artist and entertainer that Holt’s love for music and the stage began to unfold. In July 1996, led by his intuition, he left the comforts of living in the South for the bright lights of Broadway and the Big Apple. He moved to New York with $400 in his pocket and a heart full of dreams, knowing that something greater was awaiting his arrival.
Holt has starred in some of the most celebrated and spectacular productions in American theatre history including Jesus Christ Superstar, Smokey Joe’s Cafe, an the Lion King. He was the first African-American to play the role of Rocky in the European tour of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. He has entertained and enlightened sold-out audiences on some of the country?s most prestigious college and university campuses and top national venues.
