HARTFORD – It was just another email that popped up on Lisa Kassow’s computer screen, announcing the launch of a North American tour by the internationally renowned Israeli band, Hadag Nachash. The seven-member Middle Eastern-tinged hip-hop rock reggae funk ensemble is known not only for bringing unique music to the world but for promoting the message of human rights. The band is popular on college campuses, among Jewish and non-Jewish students alike, and that’s where they were planning to launch their sixth and latest album, “6.”
“I thought, ‘It can’t hurt to investigate,'” says Kassow, director of the Zachs Hillel House at Trinity College. “It was a leap of faith for me to say yes, considering the finances of most organizations and small Hillels. But I felt that it was a program that would benefit the student population so significantly that I would take that leap.”
Hadag Nachash will perform at Trinity College on Sunday, Feb. 21 at 4 p.m.
