WATERTOWN — Christ Church, Watertown’s observance of Ash Wednesday, will feature Hartford Hospital cardiologist and Muslim Coalition of Connecticut President, Dr. M. Reza Mansoor, speaking on the topic, “Penance in Islam.”
Mansoor is frequently featured in the press and electronic media on issues related to the Muslim faith, including both the local and national television networks. Under his leadership a team of Christians, Muslims, and Jews worked side by side to build “Abrahamic House,” a project for Habitat for Humanity. It was so successful a second is in the planning stages.
The Muslim Coalition of Connecticut is a social, cultural, and educational organization addressing such issues as homelessness, refugee resettlement and the contribution the Islamic faith can make to American life.
The service will be a Holy Eucharist with imposition of ashes at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 17 at Walker Hall, 50 DeForest Street (across from the Old Town Hall and next to the Congregational Church). The public is invited.
