Fr. McGivney’s Musical

Father McGivney,  the founder of the Knights of Columbus (headquartered in New Haven), will be honored with an upcoming musical this holiday season.

In December, “McGivney!” will be performed at Assumption Grotto Catholic Church in Detroit, according to the National Catholic Register. The Detroit Symphony Orchestra will feature more than a dozen new songs in the musical, which portrays McGivney as a Catholic hero. According to the Web site, “The story of Father Michael McGivney is set in the late 1800s during a time when discrimination against American Catholics, the homeless, the hungry, and the state’s systematic removal of babies and young children from poor widows was widespread.
