Orthodox church to examine the 12 steps of AA

WATERBURY — On Oct. 25, at 2 p.m., Saint Mary’s Orthodox Church, 3125 North Main Street in Waterbury, will sponsor a presentation in the Church Center entitled “Steps of Transformation,” by Fr. Meletios Webber.

Webber is an Orthodox priest with a doctorate in psychological counseling and Abbot of the Monastery of Saint John of San Francisco in Manton, Calif. In his talk, he will explore the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous from an Orthodox Christian point of view and show how the steps can be a valuable resource, not only for overcoming addiction and alcoholism, but for everyone’s spiritual journey.

There is no admission for the talk, but a collection will be taken for the benefit of the Monastery of Saint John.
