A closer look at the Sermon on the Mount

LITCHFIELD — A Beatitudes Retreat will soon take place at the Wisdom House Retreat and Conference Center where participants can examine the Sermon the Mount and the values to which a disciple of Jesus should aspire.

 

The retreat will begin with dinner Oct. 2 at 6 p.m. and continue through 1 p.m. on Oct. 4.

According to a press release, the weekend is designed to give people time to reflect on universal values and how they can help one become a beacon of hope for others.        

The presenter will be John Donahue, SJ, research professor in the Department of Theology at Loyola College of Maryland. He is past president of the Catholic Biblical Association and the author of more than 100 articles and reviews. In addition, he has lectured widely at scripture workshops in the U.S., Canada, South Africa and in Manila.

Fees for the retreat are $175 (shared room, hall bath), $245 (shared room with bath), $215 (private room, hall bath), $245 (private room with bath), $145 (commuter).
